Recently, the market research organization IDC released the latest report entitled "IDC Future Perspective: Global Robots 2018 Forecast - Asia Pacific (excluding Japan)".
The report highlights the top 10 predictions related to robot development and adoption in the Asia Pacific region. IDC predicts that in the next few years, the technology and application of robots will develop rapidly, and this region will become the region with the highest expenditure of robots in the world.
According to Jing Bing Zhang, Director of Global Robotics Research at IDC, “In addition to Japan, the Asia-Pacific region is experiencing phenomenal growth in the adoption of automation and robotics, in almost all industrial sectors – manufacturing, resources, healthcare, Consumer goods and other aspects have been reshaped, transformed and maintained competitive. IDC expects robot spending to accelerate during the five-year forecast period from 2017 to 2021, reaching $133 billion by 2021, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 31.4%, which will account for more than 60% of the global robotics market in 2021."
In the previous report, IDC expects global robot spending to reach $218.4 billion by 2021, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 25.4%. The comparison shows that the growth rate of robot spending in the Asia-Pacific region will be higher than the global average. China is the largest market for robotics and is expected to account for more than 34% of the global total by 2021.
"The development of robotics has entered a new era of robotics, an embedded and cloud-based artificial intelligence - Robot 3.0. Intelligent robots are characterized by ubiquitous perception and connectivity, network entity convergence, autonomous management capabilities and More humane multi-modal interaction."
“This development will have a profound impact on industrial robots and service robots, both commercial and consumer. Leading robotics suppliers have begun to develop and integrate artificial intelligence into their product roadmaps in order to compete Maintain a leading position.
Dr. Jing Bing Zhang also revealed three of the strategic top ten predictions and major robot trends, pointing out that they will bring opportunities and new challenges to IT leaders in 2018 and beyond.
Prediction 1: By 2020, at least 40% of newly installed industrial robots in the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) market will have predictive analysis, health awareness, self-diagnosis, peer learning or self-awareness.
Prediction 2: By 2021, 25% of A2000 manufacturers will deploy network physics robot systems, increasing productivity by 10-20%.
Prediction 3: By 2020, 35% of the top 100 APEJ retailers will use robots in store distribution, which can reduce the cost of distribution orders by up to 20%.
