In a statement, Samsung Electronics stated that the flash chip has a density of 64GB and is equipped with a DDR 2.0 interface that allows the chip to transmit data at a maximum bandwidth of 400MB per second. This data transmission speed is 10 times faster than the NAND flash memory chips currently widely used in the market. This new NAND flash memory chip is manufactured using 20nm process technology.
Samsung said it expects this new chip to be used for high-performance mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets, and solid-state drives.
