Zhongzhao.com Philips Lighting recently provided a system for dynamic growth lighting for Dutch tulip grower Karel Bolbloemen. The illumination system is capable of modulating the spectral output during the plant's growth cycle to promote a particular growth characteristic, such as making the tulip's roots thicker.
Philips' Greenlight Dynamic LED lighting system, its spectrum (far red, red, white and blue) and light intensity can be adjusted individually through the controls. According to research by Wageningen University, tulips react differently to various LED colors.
Udo van Slooten, head of Philips Lighting, said: "This is a groundbreaking innovation in which researchers and growers can fine-tune LED spectroscopy and intensity while inducing flexibility and precision to induce plant and crop growth characteristics. Achieve quality control and customization goals."
