Philips and DSM launch the world's first high-power LED application

DSM has introduced a new type of thermal-conducting plastic that increases its thermal conductivity and maintains its thermal conductivity to 10-50 times that of conventional plastics, while maintaining the advantages of general plastic materials. With the joint efforts of Philips and DSM, Philips' new MASTER LED MR16 luminaire became the world's first high-power LED application.

The aluminum housing of the luminaire was replaced by a plastic Stanyl TC with thermal conductivity. Stanyl offers several advantages in terms of design flexibility, product durability, and weight reduction. In the future, this sustainable solution will be applied to Philips' entire range of new LED luminaires.

The Philips MASTER LED MR16 is a 4 watt LED that replaces the popular low voltage halogen lamps. Its light output is comparable to a 20 watt halogen MR16 lamp, so its most important advantage is that it can save up to 80% of energy and has a lifetime that is 40 times longer than halogen lamps.
