International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor Project Launched Superconducting Wire and Becomes Hot Spot

According to Xinhua News Agency, on December 24, 2011, it was learned from the Hefei Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Institute and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Center recently signed a contract to formally undertake the international thermonuclear experimental reactor flow Power system construction tasks. It is understood that this is China's largest purchase package contract in the ITER project.

ITER is known as "artificial sun" and is a major international cooperation program to solve the future of human energy. It aims to establish the world's first controlled thermonuclear experimental reactor. The installation of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor began in 2007. The construction cycle takes more than 10 years and costs over 10 billion Euros. As a member of the seven parties participating in the plan globally, China has undertaken 12 procurement package manufacturing tasks in the ITER plant, close to 10% of the total mission volume.

In the task of a number of international thermal fusion reactors undertaken by China, the ITER converter power supply system is one of the largest procurement contract. As one of the key subsystems of the ITER superconducting tokamak device, the converter power system receives AC power from the 66kV bus of the pulsed power network and transmits the controllable DC voltage/current to the superconductor. The coils provide the necessary engineering basis and control means for the generation, confinement, maintenance, heating of the plasma and control of the plasma current, location, shape, distribution and rupture. This system is critical to the performance and safety of the entire ITER plant operation and the success or failure of physical experiments.

The international thermonuclear experimental reactor project that several companies in the cable industry in China are expecting is officially launched and contracted, enabling the superconducting superconducting wire project, which has been brewing for many years, to be officially launched and will have a strong impact in the industry.
