According to foreign media reports, in the past year, the biggest news in the drone industry is that several high-profile projects for the introduction of drones to consumers have failed and the drones have begun to transform to the industrial level. Now, leaders in this industry are taking active steps.
DJI Innovation (DJI) recently launched the Matrice 200 series of drones. This is a drone that can fly in all weather conditions, whether it is raining or snowing, it can fly normally. It comes with 3 cameras and multiple sensors for precise navigation at the centimeter level.
The M200 drone has a front camera mounted on the nose and a two-way bracket underneath, carrying a powerful zoom lens and a thermal imaging camera. If you want to see a drone that can detect bridges on the market, then DJI Innovation can also install a camera stand on top of the drone.
These cameras can be used to detect heat loss in large buildings or structural defects in power plants. The thermal imaging camera can find the right heat source, and the zoom lens allows the drone to observe the details of the area without having to be close to a specific area.
DJI Innovation claims that its cameras on drones can detect millimeter-level defects in buildings, roads and bridges in real time. In search and rescue mode, the thermal imaging camera can accurately identify the heat source position, while the zoom camera can capture close-up shots.
The M200 drone is the third generation in the Matrice range. It is smaller than the M600 drone, but larger and more functional than the M100 drone. The M100 is primarily a test bed and developer platform. The M200 has two batteries installed for 35 minutes. You can also hot swap the battery, which means you can quickly replace a battery that has run out of power without completely shutting down the aircraft.
The front, rear, and top of the M200 drone are equipped with sensors that scan for obstacles and avoid collisions. It also has a built-in ADS-B receiver. The ADS-B is a system used on manned spacecraft that allows the M200 drone to detect the whereabouts of a civil aircraft before the drone operator or sensor sees the civil aircraft entering its airspace.
The M200 drone will compete with Tycoon H520 from China Xiangxiang, Albris from Swiss SenseFly, Alta 8 from Freefly USA and Falcon 8 from Intel. DJI Innovation has not announced the price of the M200 drone, but it claims that the drone should start selling in the second quarter of this year.
