Baidu's automatic driving welcomes strong support: Microsoft has joined the global impact

On July 18, 2017, Microsoft and Baidu announced in Redmond, Washington, that the two parties will jointly advance the development and application of global autopilot technology.

As a member of Apollo's open platform, Microsoft will provide Microsoft's Smart Cloud Azure service to Baidu's Apollo open platform in areas other than China.

According to reports, more than 50 partners from all walks of life have joined the Baidu Apollo open platform, including navigation software vendor TomTom, top suppliers Bosch and Continental AG, and Grab, a leading taxi and car rental service provider in Southeast Asia.

In the automotive manufacturing industry, Microsoft has teamed up with several leading brands to help numerous automakers acquire massive amounts of data from sensors and connected cars, and turn that data into actionable information. The partners including BMW, Daimler, Renault-Nissan, Toyota, Volvo and Ford are all working on or planning to use Microsoft SmartCloud technology for driving assistants, predictive maintenance and voice-activated media.

As part of this collaboration, the two companies also plan to explore more cooperation opportunities in the area of ​​connected car solutions in order to provide customers with a unique driving experience and promote the digital transformation of the automated driving industry.
